Website launch

Launch SEO and GEO as operating foundations, not a final checklist.

A new site needs discoverable pages, measurable conversion events, clear entities, and an execution path for fixes. This checklist separates what can ship publicly from what needs owner authorization or development work.

Check public launch readiness

Before launch

  • Choose one preferred public domain and make redirects, canonicals, sitemap URLs, and internal links agree.
  • Publish robots.txt, sitemap.xml, concise page titles, descriptions, H1s, and appropriate structured data.
  • Keep critical product and brand information in the initial HTML where possible.
  • Publish About, Contact, service or product, and privacy pages with accurate business facts.

Before optimization begins

  • Set up GSC, GA4 or an equivalent analytics property, and conversion events.
  • Record baseline pages, queries, impressions, clicks, conversions, and intended markets.
  • Identify a CMS/source owner and developer contact for technical changes.
  • Agree on the business outcome: qualified leads, trials, sales, bookings, or a different conversion.

The first 90 days

0-15

Repair discovery

Resolve public access, crawl, status-code, redirect, metadata, canonical, and measurement blockers before expanding content.

15-45

Build useful entry pages

Publish priority service, product, use-case, FAQ, guide, and proof pages that answer the questions buyers actually ask.

45-90

Measure and decide

Use authorized data to compare indexing, impressions, clicks, conversion paths, and content gaps before adding more pages or paid promotion.

GEO-specific additions

Do not start with AI mention claims. Start with accurate public entities, clear product/service language, answer-first pages, source context, structured data where appropriate, and intentional crawler rules.

Maintain llms.txt only as supplementary documentation. It should match the public site and never be used as a substitute for real pages, evidence, or authorization-aware measurement.

What success looks like first

In the first weeks, success is a working sitemap, clean public technical signals, meaningful pages being crawled, and a measurement baseline. Rankings, citations, and conversions need longer observation.
